About Kathryn
Kathryn May Shields, R.N., MSN, has written textbooks and video scripts for Mosby Publishing Company. She was their Technical Advisor on numerous nursing videos, winning an Academy of Medical Films award for creative excellence in educational media.
She is a lifelong musician, who plays several instruments and has performed most styles of music. Her enjoyment of photography and writing motivated her to start her venture, Wonder All Around, creating photos, videos, and books which encourage each of us to find beauty and magic in this world.
Kathryn’s novel, On the Point of a Star, is a 2024 Next Generation Inde Book Awards winning finalist in the category First Novel under 50,000 words.
Okay everyone, enough with the formal stuff. Now for the joy!!! I love cats. I volunteer at our local shelter working with cats, cats, and more cats. Nothing makes me happier than loving and caring for these sweet souls until they find their new homes. This is magic.
I love taking walks (always with camera in hand) finding wonders of all kind…both large and small. I notice the sounds, smells, and ambiance around me, pulling it all inside to percolate…then to pour out as happiness, peace, creativity. More magic.
I love music. Music takes me to an imagined place, another era, another country, or to a real place (listen to Mendelssohn’s, Hebrides Overture. Wow!). Since youth, I have felt such joy sitting in an orchestra playing incredible music such as The Moldau, Carmen, Overture to Candide, and George Bizet's Symphony in C. Hey, he wrote this symphony when he was 17. Pretty incredible! I love music that calms me, or makes me jump up and dance. I love Irish, Cajun, Jazz, early Rock & Roll--anything that makes me want to beat my drums. It is all a wonder.
And wonder, magic, joy, creativity is what I wish to share with you on this website.
